Local SEO agency: local SEO services that put you on Google Maps
When someone nearby searches for what you do, the three businesses in the map pack get most of the calls. Lead Gems is a UK local SEO agency that gets service businesses into those three spots and turns map views into enquiries.
- Google Business Profile
- Google Maps
- Reviews
- Local pages
What is local SEO?
Local SEO is the work that makes a business appear in Google Maps and the local "map pack" when people nearby search for its services. It centres on your Google Business Profile, your reviews, consistent business details across the web, and location pages on your website. Lead Gems provides local SEO services for UK service businesses, measured by the calls and enquiries they produce.
"I was paying Checkatrade and getting the same leads as four other plumbers. Now I get my own leads, at a lower cost, and they are only coming to me. The review automation alone has transformed my Google ranking."
The problem
Why your business is not showing on Google Maps
Most businesses missing from Google Maps have an incomplete Google Business Profile, too few recent reviews, or inconsistent details across the web.
The wrong primary category
Google leans heavily on your main category. "Lawyer" and "Conveyancing solicitor" rank for different searches.
An incomplete profile
Missing services, hours, photos, descriptions and service areas all cost you visibility.
Too few recent reviews
Competitors with steady new reviews outrank businesses with a few old ones.
Different details in different places
A different phone number or an old address on directories confuses Google about who you are.
No local pages
One "Contact us" page cannot rank for every town you serve.
Nobody tracks calls from Maps
Without tracking, you cannot tell whether the work is paying off.
The difference
How Lead Gems compares to a typical local SEO company
Most local SEO companies stop at the profile. We connect it to tracking, reviews and follow-up so map views become clients.
| Area | Typical local SEO company | Lead Gems |
|---|---|---|
| What they measure | Map rankings | Calls, direction requests, enquiries and cost per lead |
| Reviews | Advice on asking for them | Automated review requests after every job or appointment |
| Missed calls | Not their problem | Missed-call text back, so a call from Maps is never lost |
| Website | Left as it is | Location and service pages that support your profile |
| Citations | Bulk directory submissions | The directories that matter in your sector, cleaned up and consistent |
| Reporting | A ranking grid once a month | A live dashboard of calls and enquiries from Maps and local search |

Our approach
How our local SEO agency gets you into the map pack
We treat your Google Business Profile like a second homepage. It is often the first thing a new client sees, so it gets the same care as your website.
- 01
We fix the profile first
Categories, services, description, photos, hours and service areas are set up properly before anything else.
- 02
We automate reviews
A short message after every job or appointment asks happy clients for a review, so new ones arrive every week.
- 03
We make your details match everywhere
Name, address and phone are made identical across your website, Google, Bing, Apple Maps and the directories in your sector.
- 04
No call from Maps goes unanswered
Missed calls get an instant text back, so the person who found you does not call the next business on the list.
How does Google rank businesses on Google Maps?
Google ranks local results on three things: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the person searching or the place they named. Prominence is how well known and well reviewed your business is, online and off. Google says this in its own guidance for business owners, and local SEO works on all three.

Tracked calls and bookings
Booking and call links tracked, so you can see what the profile produces.
Local SEO for small businesses and multi-location firms
A small business with one office should focus on its Google Business Profile, reviews and one strong page per service. A firm with several offices needs a verified profile and a dedicated location page for each one, all managed to the same standard.
Businesses that travel to clients, such as trades and mobile services, can hide their address and set a service area instead. We then build location pages for the towns that matter most.

Questions
Local SEO questions, answered.
How do I get my business into the Google map pack?
Complete every part of your Google Business Profile, choose the right primary category, get a steady flow of genuine reviews, keep your name, address and phone the same everywhere, and make sure your website has a page for each service. Google ranks on relevance, distance and prominence, so the work covers all three.
How long does local SEO take?
Profile fixes can improve visibility within a few weeks. Most businesses see a clear rise in calls and enquiries from Maps within three to six months, depending on competition in their area.
Can I rank on Google Maps in a town where I do not have an office?
It is hard, because distance is one of Google’s three ranking factors. You can still win searches in those towns through well-built location pages on your website, which rank in Google’s main results.
How many Google reviews do I need?
There is no fixed number. What matters is having more recent, genuine reviews than the businesses you compete with, and replying to them. A steady flow every month beats a burst once a year.
Can you remove bad reviews?
No one can remove a genuine review. Google only removes reviews that break its policies, such as spam or fake reviews, and we will report those for you. For the rest, a calm, professional reply often does more for your reputation than the review itself does harm.
Does local SEO work if I do not have premises clients visit?
Yes. Businesses that travel to clients can hide their address and set a service area on their Google Business Profile. Local pages on your website then support the towns you cover.
What is the difference between local SEO and SEO?
Local SEO gets you into Google Maps and the map pack for searches in your area. SEO improves your website’s position in Google’s main results, locally or nationally. Most service businesses need both.
Do directory listings still matter?
Consistent details on the directories that matter in your sector still help Google trust that your business is real and where it says it is. Hundreds of low-quality listings do not.
Does local SEO help with ChatGPT and Apple Maps?
Yes. AI tools and Apple Maps draw on the same business details and reviews. Keeping them complete and consistent helps you appear when people ask ChatGPT or Siri for a local recommendation.
